About, editorial standards, and privacy

FREE · PRIVATE · MULTILINGUAL

A word counter and text utility workshop for every writing system

TextKit Hub combines live word and character counts, cleanup, case conversion, duplicate-line removal, readability analysis, and developer formatters in one browser-based workspace. Your text is processed on your device, so drafts, code snippets, and encoded values do not need to be sent to an external service.

01

Local-first privacy

Transformations run in the browser. Saved drafts and preferences stay in this browser's local storage.

02

Unicode-aware text

Selected languages use Intl.Segmenter for word boundaries; a Unicode-aware fallback counts other text without relying only on spaces.

03

Useful output

Copy or download results after reviewing exactly what changed in the input, output, and metric panels.

COUNTS YOU CAN CHECK

How words, characters, and time estimates are measured

A simple example

Hello world contains 2 words, 11 characters including the space, and 10 characters without whitespace. Punctuation counts as characters but does not become a word by itself.

Compare character counting methods, including why an emoji can use more than one code point.

Word boundaries depend on the language

Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Lao, Khmer, and Burmese use Intl.Segmenter when available. Other text uses Unicode letter and number matching, retaining apostrophes and hyphens within words. Mixed text and different browser dictionaries can produce different totals.

Read the Intl.Segmenter reference.

Characters and spaces

The workshop counts Unicode code points. Its without-spaces count removes whitespace, including tabs and line breaks. A combined emoji or accented sequence may contain several code points even when it looks like one symbol.

Use your destination platform's own counter when it applies different limits or weighting.

PRACTICAL WORKFLOWS

Turn a text problem into a checked result

Explore the learning center →

Convert spreadsheet data without losing identifiers, diagnose hidden characters, or review a draft with a transparent checklist. Each workflow includes an interactive tool, original worked examples, troubleshooting, and explicit limits.

01
Data workflowsCSV to JSON Converter

Convert CSV, semicolon-separated data, or TSV to JSON locally. Preserve identifiers, check quoted fields, and download the result with a practical import guide.

02

WRITING & PLATFORM GUIDES

Make the count useful, not merely visible

10 calculators with practical guidance

Estimate page and speech length, check current platform fields, measure reading pace, and apply title case. Each guide pairs a browser-based calculator with assumptions, examples, source notes, and related reading.

01
Writing estimatesHow Many Words Are on One Page?

A typical 12-point document holds about 500 words single-spaced, 330 words at 1.5 spacing, or 250 words double-spaced per page.

02
Speaking guidesHow Many Words Is a 5-Minute Speech?

A five-minute speech is usually about 650–750 words at 130–150 words per minute. A deliberate 120 WPM delivery is closer to 600 words.

03
Social media limitsInstagram Character Limit

Use 2,200 characters for captions, 150 for bios, and 30 for usernames as practical planning ceilings, then confirm the current limit in Instagram before publishing.

04
Social media limitsFacebook Post Character Limit

Facebook supports long text posts, but Meta does not publish one stable public maximum for every composer and API surface. Count your draft here and verify the current publishing screen.

05
Video metadataYouTube Title and Description Limits

YouTube video titles allow up to 100 characters, and video descriptions allow up to 5,000 characters.

06
Social media limitsX Post Character Limit

Standard X posts allow 280 weighted characters. X Premium subscribers can create longer posts of up to 25,000 characters.

07
Content planningIdeal Blog Post Length

There is no universal ideal blog-post length. Write enough to satisfy the reader's intent; Google explicitly says it has no preferred word count.

08
Writing styleTitle Case Rules

Capitalize the first and last words and major words. Articles, short conjunctions, and many prepositions are often lowercase—but exact rules depend on the chosen style guide.

09
Reading and speakingWords per Minute Guide

Adults silently read English non-fiction at about 238 WPM on average in a large meta-analysis; spoken delivery is commonly planned around 120–160 WPM.

10
Character countingCharacter Count With and Without Spaces

With spaces counts every typed character, including whitespace. Without spaces removes whitespace before counting; punctuation still counts in both totals.

LANGUAGE COVERAGE

Built for multilingual documents

The interface can be switched among 18 languages, while text input supports Unicode scripts including Latin, Hangul, CJK, Cyrillic, Arabic, and Devanagari. Right-to-left interface direction is applied when an RTL language is selected.

PROCESSING BOUNDARY

What stays on your device

Text analysis, formatting, validation, encoding, decoding, regex matching, and UUID generation execute in browser code. The site does not need an upload endpoint to perform these operations. As with any browser tool, review sensitive material according to your own organization's security policy before using it.
